Lagan Aviation & Infrastructure Ltd (part of the Lagan Specialist Contracting Group) are recruiting a Sustainability and Social Value Officer.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be required to work alongside the project teams to implement the Sustainability and Social Value strategies and ensure compliance with all sustainability requirements of the framework. The role also requires you to drive sustainability best practices to minimise impacts on the environment and communities that we work in.
What you’ll do
The following reflect the main tasks associated with your position and are not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive:
Sustainability:
- Ensure that all sustainability requirements of the project are implemented
- Develop and update all environmental plans related to the projects
- Maintain all sustainability records on ASite
- Hold BREEAM Infrastructure workshops with relevant project teams
- Successfully achieve a minimum 'Very Good' score for the BREEAM Infrastructure assessment
- Promote and drive sustainability initiatives across the framework
- Conduct monthly sustainability audits across the projects in the Framework
- Conduct waste 'duty of care' checks on all waste carriers and facilities
- Develop sustainability training and awareness on project-specific constraints/issues.
- Liaise with and support environmental specialists in the discharge of their duties
- Detailed record keeping:
- Maintenance of waste log and collation of waste figures
- Energy and fuel usage
- Water usage (including greywater)
- Any other requirements of the CEMP and BREEAM Infrastructure
Social Value
- Maintain good relationships with the RAF MCO to implement the community engagement strategy for the framework
- Organise and implement all community related engagements
- Liaise with the Framework's chosen charity / social enterprise to ensure meaningful engagement
- Implement LAIL's and Framework's Social Value strategy
What you'll bring
Essential Criteria
- Environmental science / management or sustainability related degree
- IT skills such as using document management systems, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
- Willingness to work as part of a team
- Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to collect and collate information and present it in a concise manner
- Organised and good attention to detail
- Willingness to travel and work away from home as required
- Full, Valid Driving License
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge/experience in BREEAM Infrastructure Assessment
- Experience working in the construction industry
- Membership of IEMA or any other environmental related body
