The role:
Basic Function:
Perform Inspection and analysis of incoming, in process, outgoing and returned material

Principal Job Duties:

  • Conduct laboratory duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Regular dimensional and visual process checks
  • Dimensional layout inspection
  • Aluminium composition analysis
  • Porosity analysis of castings
  • Maintenance and calibration of all test equipment
  • Materials testing
  • Cleanliness testing
  • Assist in the development and implementing of new products – APQP / Inspection Standards
  • Maintain required records to ensure conformance to customer Quality requirements
  • Provide assistance to Quality Manager in troubleshooting in-process Die Casting problems
  • Assist to create plans for the training of all employees in the use and theory of Quality techniques and Continuous Improvement.
  • Assist Manufacturing in efforts to reduce process variation and increase productivity.
  • Comply with all company health, safety, quality and environmental standards
  • Practice good housekeeping and safety procedures
  • Participate with team working, information sharing and Continuous Improvement Programmes
  • Other duties as required

Essential Criteria:

  • NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject 
  • Experience in a Quality Control role
  • Experience and knowledge of one or more of the following:
  • SPC
  • CMM (using PCDMIS software)
  • Experience of using inspection equipment e.g. hard gauge, digital caliper
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A well-organised and methodical approach to work
  • Computer literate
  • Diligent, with an eye for detail
  • Strong customer focus
  • Strong team player

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience within an engineering manufacturing environment, preferably die casting
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools/techniques
