The role:

  1. Provides technical assistance and direction to: QA, Manufacturing, Die Maintenance, Sales, Machine Maintenance, Machine Shop
  2. Monitors daily production and carry out troubleshooting
  3. Creation and maintenance of reporting tools e.g. Improvement plans
  4. Regular data collection of die cast productivity, rejects and machine efficiency
  5. Regular development & reporting of current process improvements: 5 Why, Top 6, Weekly 3 Worst, Monthly 3 Worst, Improvement Plan, BEPP Open Items
  6. Provides engineering support to all areas of manufacturing by: establishing optimum die casting parameters and conditions, implementing product designs changes, developing process improvements, and providing engineered solutions to product and process problems
  7. Develops and executes programs to improve productivity
  8. Develops and executes programs to reduce overall reject
  9. Reviews customer rejects, implements action to prevent reoccurrence. Meet with the customer if necessary to resolve problems
  10. Collects, reviews, and categorizes customer rejects

Essential Criteria:

  1. Third level qualification in an engineering or technical discipline (degree, HND, HNC or equivalent)
  2. Previous experience within a manufacturing engineering environment
  3. IT literate, proficient in MS Office
  4. Good analytical and problem solving skills
  5. Good communication skills, both oral and written
  6. Good project management skills
  7. Ability to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment
  8. Customer focus and teamwork skills
  9. Desirable Criteria:
  10. Knowledge of manufacturing and experience in the die casting industry  
  11. Knowledge of continuous improvement tools/techniques
  12. Experience of CAD/CAM systems
