The role:
Principal Duties:
1. Maintain good housekeeping within the department
2. Comply with health and safety standards and follow procedures within the department
3. Be able to identify the different metal types in the department
4. Carryout furnace start up checks and complete the paperwork neatly and accurately
5. Be able to start up, run and shutdown a furnace
6. Perform burner and preheat operations
7. Perform furnace, ladle cleaning and dross recovery duties
8. Have the ability to identify furnace problems
9. Perform material handling and forklift checks
10. Perform daily clean up activities
11. Perform weekly TPM and to-do duties
12. Participate in information sharing and Loss Improvement activities
13. Work well within a team environment
14. Inform senior melt personnel immediately when problems are identified
15. Follow instructions as issued by senior melt personnel
16. Support overtime requirements as required
17. Other duties as required

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous manufacturing experience
  • Team player with good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Customer focus
  • Able to meet deadlines and achieve targets
  • Able to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment
  • Able to see activities through to completion
  • Available to work shifts

Desirable Criteria:

  • Forklift Licence (Counter Balance) – if you do not have a licence, offer is subject to passing a forklift test onsite
