Finance Manager – 12-month FTC

Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen within our finance department for a Finance Manager. The successful candidate will be a key member of the central finance team, reporting to the Group Financial Controller and will be responsible for a number of subsidiary companies and all financial aspects associated with those companies.

Main Activities/Tasks

  • Consolidation of group accounts and preparation of reporting packs and KPIs for leadership team and board.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for USA business and overview of smaller subsidiary accounts including review of journals and accruals.
  • Monthly account reconciliations/intercompany balances review.
  • Business partner for different functions, review of business performance, monthly overhead analysis & support to the business through the annual budget cycle.
  • Review of the monthly VAT/Intrastat/PAYE returns.
  • Review of weekly and monthly payroll submissions / monthly derivative calculations / monthly balance sheet reconciliations across the different subsidiaries.
  • Preparation of annual statutory financial statements.
  • Involved in internal audit reviews of various areas of the business.
  • Responsible for the supply of information to the annual external audit.
  • Provision of information to enable completion of corporation tax returns (including allowances such as capital/Patent Box) & review of tax payments on account.
  • Review and development of financial controls & drive a mind-set of continuous improvement.
  • Review of changes to accounting standards / FRS102 and changes to tax compliance / VAT legislation across the subsidiaries.
  • Preparation of statutory returns and surveys across the different subsidiaries.
  • Other ad hoc duties as and when required.

Essential Criteria:

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) or part-qualified with experience working in a manufacturing business.
  • Strong IT skills including delivering high quality, user-friendly financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills along with a proven ability to meet deadlines in a demanding environment.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Large multi-national industry experience
  • Previous experience of month end procedures
  • Previous experience of Spectra or similar financial package
  • Experience in the preparation of statutory and management accounts
  • Experience in preparing budgets and business partnering
