Die Maintenance Engineer

The role
Main purpose of job
- Provides engineering support in the design, development and operation of all Die Maintenance activity to continuously improve productivity and economically produce Tools of maximum quality
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Monitor daily Tooling performance and carry out troubleshooting
- Provide engineering support to all areas of Die Maintenance by:
- Establishing optimum Tooling service programs
- Implementing Tooling design changes
- Developing Tooling improvements
- Providing engineered solutions to Tooling problems
- Develop and execute programs to improve productivity and output within Die Maintenance/Tool room
- Develop departmental KPIs to drive improvements based on routine analyzing production downtime
- Review Die Build rejects, implement actions to prevent reoccurrence and meet with the relevant departments/subcontractors if necessary to resolve problems
- Investigate problems relating to fixtures and tooling to optimize efficiency
- Create and maintain tool management system, ensuring tooling availability for manufacturing process; set and maintain tooling records as required
- Perform minor maintenance on HPDC tooling
- Visit customers and suppliers when required
- Initiate and develop good working relationships with external suppliers
- Support Design/Sales and Quality Assurance departments as required
- Stay abreast of technological advances
- Ensure smooth SOP
- Comply with all company health, safety, quality and environmental standards
- Practice good housekeeping and safety procedures
- Participate with team working, information sharing and continuous improvement programmes
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Criteria:
- Third level qualification in an engineering or technical discipline (degree, HND, HNC or equivalent)
- Previous experience within a manufacturing engineering environment
- Able to read and understand engineering drawings
- IT literate, proficient in MS Office
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Good presentation and negotiation skills
- Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Able to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment
- Able to see activities through to completion
- Available to work shifts
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of Tooling manufacturing technics and experience in the Tooling repair
- Knowledge of continuous improvement tools/techniques
- Experience of CAD/CAM systems
